That JAMA CPOE study
The study in JAMA a couple of weeks ago that suggested that improperly planned CPOE could introduce entire classes of errors into the medication administration process predictably has elicited strong reaction.
The Washington Post ran a lengthy piece on this controversy on Tuesday. Click quickly before they cut off free access to it after (I think) a week.
A story I wrote in the March 15 Health-IT World News about the reaction to the study resulted in a point-counterpoint debate in this week’s HITW.
I can all but guarantee this is not the last word we see on this issue. The medical and informatics journals ought to expect a flood of new submissions in the not-too-distant future.
