Tooting my own horn, yet again

My profile of Dr. Larry Weed appears in the July edition of the Health-IT World electronic monthly.

I will have a piece in Hospitals & Health Networks in July on the growing adoption of wireless technology in hospitals. It has not been posted online yet. The same goes for a story of mine with more of a managed care/practice management bent in Biotechnology Healthcare.

I’ll also toot the horn of a former colleague, Liz Beckley, who has a piece on Bush vs. Kerry on the subject of EMRs in the June issue of H&HN.

Hey, when you’re flying solo, you have to talk yourself up. :-)

Another high-profile tragedy

There was some more bad news on the transplant front today.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced today that three people died after receiving organs from a single donor who had rabies.

One patient, who received a lung from the donor, died during transplant surgery, according to the CDC press release.

The CDC says that rabies is not part of the normal screening process for organ donors.

A Webcast of the announcement is available at http://www.videonewswire.com/cdc/070104/reg.html.
